Spinal Cord Stimulation

Our expert clinicians might recommend spinal cord stimulation as a treatment option. This innovative technology provides low-energy electrical input to the spine’s nerves, thereby counteracting pain fibers in the lower back, legs, and feet. While it doesn’t cure chronic pain, it typically results in a significant reduction, allowing for significantly improved function in daily life.

The first step is a relatively simple spinal cord stimulation trial. In this 10-20 minute procedure, two soft, flexible wires are inserted through a needle under live X-ray guidance. The wires are secured, and pain-relieving stimulation is provided on a trial basis for less than a week before the wires need to be removed.

Radiofrequency nerve ablation, also known as radiofrequency ablation (RFA) or radiofrequency neurotomy, is a minimally invasive procedure employed to alleviate chronic pain by targeting specific nerves responsible for transmitting pain signals. During the procedure, a specialized needle electrode is inserted near the targeted nerve under imaging guidance.

Once positioned accurately, radiofrequency energy is delivered through the electrode, generating heat that ablates or disables the nerve’s ability to transmit pain signals. This results in a significant reduction in pain perception and can provide long-lasting relief for patients suffering from conditions such as chronic back pain, neck pain, or arthritis.

We offer a variety of nerve block treatments to address pain concerns efficiently. Our interventions, including Brachial Plexus Blocks, Axillary Blocks, Interscalene Blocks, Celiac Plexus Blocks, and Cervical and Lumbar Selective Nerve Root Blocks, are administered with precision using guided imaging techniques at an outpatient surgical center. These treatments provide immediate relief for specific areas such as the hand, wrist, forearm, neck, lower back, leg, knee and abdominal region. Additionally, they may involve the use of local anesthesia, sedation and corticosteroids for sustained pain management.

Each new patient will undergo an in-depth consultation with a Medical Doctor, at which time a detailed history and physical exam will be performed. This evaluation will focus on finding the source of the pain in order to establish a working diagnosis so that a comprehensive treatment plan can be initiated. A treatment plan will be devised and will involve the patient’s input. Regular follow-up visits with a provider will be required to determine the ongoing effectiveness of the plan.
