Conveniently located at Cheyenne Ave and Metro Academy Way intersection, our surgical center is within the Apex Industrial Park in Summerlin. Whether you’ve been a longtime resident or are new to the area, we invite you to discover the innovative approach to pain management at the Innovative Procedural & Surgical Center.
Under law, specifically Nevada Revised Statute 630: 305, we are required to disclose any financial or other conflict of interest to a patient. Please note that several of the physicians of IPPC also own an interest in the Innovative Procedural & Surgical Center.
We provide these services routinely along with many others as required by the medical needs of our patients.
Transforaminal Epidural Steroid Injection
A transforaminal injection involves the targeted administration of a long-acting steroid which surrounds a spinal nerve root through the exit hole in the spine, known as a foramen. This procedure aims to reduce inflammation and swelling around the spinal nerve roots, thereby alleviating associated pressure on the nerve roots that causes pain and numbness in the arms or legs.
Using this minimally-invasive outpatient procedure, your physician can provide significant relief of chronic neck pain, mid-back pain, and sciatica, or lower back pain that radiates into the legs. The pain relief can be seen within hours or days following the injection and will, in many cases, last for months or even years.
Radio Frequency Ablations
Radiofrequency nerve ablation, also known as radiofrequency ablation (RFA) or radiofrequency neurotomy, is a minimally invasive procedure employed to alleviate chronic pain by targeting specific nerves responsible for transmitting pain signals. During the procedure, a specialized needle electrode is inserted near the targeted nerve under imaging guidance.
Once positioned accurately, radiofrequency energy is delivered through the electrode, generating heat that ablates or disables the nerve’s ability to transmit pain signals. This results in a significant reduction in pain perception and can provide long-lasting relief for patients suffering from conditions such as chronic back pain, neck pain, or arthritis.
Spinal Cord Stimulator Trial
A spinal cord stimulator is an implanted electronic device designed to alleviate chronic pain. By delivering controlled, low-voltage electrical currents through wires that are inserted by needle and positioned in the epidural space, the device offers customizable pain relief to patients.
If successful, this spinal cord stimulator trial will lead to a more permanent, long-term overall reduction in pain symptoms through the implantation of a permanent stimulator unit. This symptomatic relief often exceeds over 50% reduction in pain levels, thus enabling increased activity and decreased reliance on pain medication throughout the patient’s life.
Facet Joint Injections
A facet joint injection is a minimally invasive procedure used to diagnose and treat pain originating from the facet joints of the spine. These joints, located on each side of the vertebrae, can become inflamed or irritated due to conditions like arthritis, traumatic injury, whiplash, or degenerative changes.
The injection involves inserting a small needle into the facet joint and injecting a mixture of a long-lasting steroid and local anesthetic. These injections can provide immediate relief of facet joint pain that can help in diagnosing the cause of neck or back pain, and the pain relieving effects can last for weeks to months following the procedure, allowing time for the joints to heal.
Sacroiliac Joint Steroid Injection
Sacroiliac (SI) joint injections serve as a valuable diagnostic and therapeutic tool in managing lower back pain attributed to sacroiliac joint dysfunction. This joint can be a source of significant discomfort in the lower back and tailbone region. These injections involve the precise administration of steroids, along with a local anesthetic, directly into the SI joint to reduce inflammation and alleviate pain.
SI joint injections will help to diagnose and treat some painful lower back conditions related to this large joint. Once diagnosed, the expert clinicians at Innovative Pain Care Center can offer a variety of treatments for this debilitating condition, ranging from steroid injections, nerve ablations, or electrical stimulation to reduce pain symptoms.
Peripheral Nerve Stimulator
Peripheral nerves extend to the extremities, including limbs and internal organs. In cases of neuropathic pain affecting areas such as the wrist, knee, foot, or hands, Peripheral Nerve Stimulation (PNS) offers a potential solution to interrupt pain signals. PNS involves a trial phase to assess the patient’s response. During the trial, probes are temporarily inserted near the affected nerves connected to an external device. If the patient experiences significant pain reduction and responds positively, a surgical procedure can implant the probes and devices for long-term pain management.
PNS empowers patients with a self-regulated option to alleviate pain. Using a remote control, patients can adjust the electrical current for relief. With decades of usage, modern PNS devices are more effective in minimizing pain and reducing reliance on medications.
